Ιστορία γράφει η Δωροθέα Ιωάννου αφού γίνεται η πρώτη γυναίκα CEO σε Ναυτασφαλιστικό Οργανισμό P&I Club και πιο συγκεκριμένα στο American P&I Club.
Η Δωροθέα Ιωάννου αναλαμβάνει CEO από 1/8/2022 καθώς αποχωρεί ο μέχρι πρότινος επικεφαλής Joe Hughes.
Όπως αναφέρει η ανακοίνωση του American Club: Την 1η Αυγούστου 2022, ο Joe Hughes θα παραιτηθεί από την θέση του ως Chief Executive Officer of Shipowners Claims Bureau, Inc. (SCB), Managers of the American Club, μετά από 27 χρόνια υπηρεσίας σε αυτόν τον ρόλο.
Η Δωροθέα Ιωάννου μέχρι πρότινος Deputy Chief Operating Officer of SCB θα αναλάβει CEO την ημερομηνία αυτή.
Ο Vince Solarino θα παραιτηθεί ταυτόχρονα από τον ρόλο του Chief Operating Officer της SCB. Ο Dan Tadros, επί του παρόντος Chief Legal and Compliance Officer of SCBC, θα γίνει ο νέος COO εκείνη την εποχή.
Το διοικητικό συμβούλιο του American Club συγχαίρει την Dorothea και τον Dan για τους διορισμούς τους σε αυτές τις βασικές θέσεις και τους εύχεται καλή επιτυχία στο μέλλον.
Αξίζει ιδιαίτερα να σημειωθεί ότι η Δωροθέα Ιωάννου θα είναι η πρώτη γυναίκα CEO εταιρείας διαχείρισης συλλόγων International Group στα 167 χρόνια από την ίδρυση των πρώτων αμοιβαίων Εταιρειών του σημερινού Ομίλου. Το συμβούλιο υπερηφανεύεται που συμμετείχε στην δημιουργία Ιστορίας από αυτή την άποψη.
Η Δωροθέα Ιωάννου γεννήθηκε στην Νέα Υόρκη. Κατάγεται από το χωριό Πέρα, της Ορεινής Λευκωσίας στην Κύπρο. Ολοκλήρωσε τις εγκύκλιες σπουδές της στην Ν. Υόρκη στο City University of New York – Queens College. Ακολούθησαν σπουδές Πολιτικών Επιστημών στο Πανεπιστήμιο City και Νομικής στο St. John’s University School of Law. Εργάστηκε ως δικηγόρος στις ΗΠΑ. Κατόπιν ήρθε στην Ελλάδα όπου εργάστηκε αρχικά σε δικηγορικό γραφείο στην Αθήνα στον τομέα του Ευρωπαϊκού Δικαίου. Μετά εργάστηκε σε δικηγορικό γραφείο στον Πειραιά στον τομέα του Ναυτιλιακού Δικαίου. Το 1998 ξεκίνησε να συνεργάζεται με την Allied Insurance Brokers Ltd. ως διευθύντρια του νομικού τμήματος (Head of Claims and Legal Department) καλύπτοντας όλο το φάσμα θεμάτων σχετικών με την ναυτιλία.
Το 2005 έγινε Claims Εxecutive της εταιρείας Shipowners Claims Bureau Hellas Ltd. στην Ελλάδα. To 2009 όταν άνοιξε τα πρώτα γραφεία στην Ελλάδα το The American Club, έγινε Managing Director και νομικός εκπρόσωπος της Εταιρείας. Η American Steamship, ιδιοκτήτες Αμοιβαίας Προστασίας και αποζημίωσης Association, Inc (η American Club) ιδρύθηκε στην Νέα Υόρκη το 1917 και είναι η μόνη αμοιβαίας προστασίας και αποζημίωσης λέσχη που εδρεύει στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες.
Όπως μου είχε πει σε συνέντευξη που μου είχε δώσει στο www.efoplistesnews.gr τον Μάρτιο του 2018 «η ενσυναίσθηση, η υπομονή και η γενναιοδωρία είναι το κλειδί για κάθε επιτυχία».

On August 1, 2022, Joe Hughes will be relinquishing his position as Chief Executive Officer of Shipowners Claims Bureau, Inc. (SCB), Managers of the American Club, after 27 years’ service in that role. Dorothea Ioannou, currently Deputy Chief Operating Officer of SCB, will take over as CEO on that date.
Vince Solarino will at the same time relinquish his role as Chief Operating Officer of SCB, after a similar length of service in that position. Dan Tadros, currently Chief Legal and Compliance Officer of SCB, will become the new COO at that time.
Arpad Kadi will continue to discharge his current duties as Chief Financial Officer and Tom Hamilton will continue in his role as Chief Underwriting Officer.
Joe and Vince will remain, respectively, as Chairman and President of SCB to focus on the transitioning of their day-to-day operational roles to their senior colleagues, led by Dorothea in concert with Dan, Arpad and Tom, and supported by the Managers’ service teams throughout the world.
Your Board fully endorses these new and continuing appointments, recognizing that they represent the successful accomplishment of a management succession plan which has been in the making for several years. Your Board also congratulates Dorothea and Dan on their appointments to these key positions and wishes them every success in the future.
It is particularly worthy of note that Dorothea will be the first female CEO of an International Group club management company in the 167 years since the first mutuals of the current Group were founded. Your Board takes pride in having been involved in the making of history in this regard.
Your Board thanks Joe and Vince for their sterling work in making the American Club and Eagle Ocean Marine, from modest beginnings in the mid-1990s, the respected global organizations they are today. Your Board is also pleased to note their continuing engagement with, and availability to, the Club’s management team – and indeed to the Board itself – as the transition to new executive responsibility takes place over the forthcoming period.
