In the past fortnight we have seen the introduction of new port fees at US ports targeting Chinese linked vessels and at Chinese ports the introduction of port fees targeting USA linked vessels in retaliation.

Perhaps as a reaction to these new port cost charges we have seen an increase this week in all FBX routes loading from the Far East. FBX01 (China/East Asia – USA West Coast) has increased $641 since last Friday, settling at $2,072. FBX03 (China/East Asia – USA East Coast) has increased by $349 since last Friday, ending at $3,362 still the most expensive route, but also the longest sailing distance. FBX11 (China/East Asia – North Europe) has increased by $541from last Friday ending the week at $2,262. FBX13 (China/East Asia – Mediterranean) ended the week $177 higher than last Friday, at $2,285.
