The Baltic Exchange Dry index fell 2.2% to 2,852 on Monday, its lowest level since August 21. The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, tumbled 4.4% to 4,148, its lowest level since late July.

On the other hand, the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, increased 0.3% to 2,432 and the supramax index rose 0.4% to 1,821.
