DNV GL – Maritime: response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak

19 Φεβρουαρίου 2020.

dnvgl20Update 14 February, 2020:

DNV GL’s offices in China remain closed as a result of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Subject to further developments, most offices are expected to re-open on the 24th of February, with the exception of those in Tianjin and Chongqing which will remain closed until further notice.

We will continue to provide services remotely where this is possible.

For any questions, please contact our DATE service, or your local point of contact.

Survey requests Worldwide – excluding China:

When making survey bookings for ports outside of China we kindly ask you to please inform us if your vessel has called at any ports in China within the past 4 weeks, or if any crew member has transited through or from China in the past 4 weeks, as further clarification may be required prior to our confirmation of attendance.

In addition, please advise us if there are any crew members onboard with symptoms associated with the virus, e.g. fever, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath and difficulty breathing.

For surveys delivered outside of China, we confirm that our surveyor has not been to mainland China in the last 14 days and does not show any symptoms of the virus. Should your company have any other precautionary measures that we need to be aware of, please advise us of them at the time of the survey booking.

For any questions, please contact our DATE service, or your local point of contact.

Update 7 February, 2020:

In response to the Coronavirus outbreak, DNV GL has set-up a global project team to take the precautionary measures necessary for the protection of our employees, while ensuring business operations for our customers run as smoothly as possible.

Our Shanghai survey Planning Centre is actively monitoring the situation in all major ports and cities in Greater China. Survey requests are being assessed based on the latest available information and responded to as quickly as possible.

DNV GL is making every effort to provide onboard services to your vessel during this time. However, travel restrictions and restricted access to ports from local authorities are being applied dynamically to deal with the outbreak, and this may affect our ability to provide services. To attempt to avoid disruption to our services due to this, we have already arranged to have surveyors present in major port cities.

We would ask that in advance of any onboard survey, you contact your appointed port agent, as our surveyors will need their assistance to arrange boarding.

Where possible, DNV GL will use our remote survey scheme. Our 24/7 DATE (Direct Access to Technical Experts) services remain available globally.

In the case of surveys becoming overdue due to our inability to attend, please contact our DATE services for a solution.

If you have any questions regarding these developments, please get in touch with your local point of contact directly.

Through this challenging time, we ask that you take every precaution to keep yourself, families, colleagues and crews safe. At DNV GL, we will be doing our utmost to ensure that we continue to work together to provide our services and deliver your projects.
