Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.(“K”Line), charterer of the car carrier “Fremantle Highway”, has received a report from the owner of the vessel that she was towed by salvors in the early morning of August 3(Local time) to the port of Eemshaven and berthed in the afternoon of August 3(Local time).

The Captain, who was being kept in hospital, was discharged on August 3(Local Time). All the 22 people who were hospitalized from this incident have now been discharged. The owner will investigate the extent of damage and cause of the accident which will be conducted in cooperation with the authorities.

Our condolences remain the crew member who tragically lost his life in this incident.

Fire Incident on a Vehicle Carrier “Fremantle Highway”(4)

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.(“K”Line), charterer of the car carrier “Fremantle Highway” hasreceived a report from the owner of the vessel that she was towed from the accident site to asafe anchorage on July31,11:30(LOCAL TIME), 16km North of Schiermonnikog and Ameland..

According to the shipowner, salvors boarded the vessel on August 1, 9:00(LOCAL TIME) and confirmed that the fire was extinguished.It was decided to tow the vessel to the port of Eemshaven, following which,an investigation into the cause of the accident will be conducted in cooperation with the authorities and relevant parties.

Of the.2 personnel(Captain, Pilot) still in hospital, the pilot was discharged on August 2(LOCALTIME), while the Captain is being kept in hospital. As charterer of the vessel , we wish him a safe and swift recovery.

As far as we are aware, there is no reported oil pollution due to this incident.
